Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

TCG Scope ("we," "us," or "our") operates the website located at tcgscope.app (the "Service"). This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, store, and protect your information when you use our Service.

By using the Service, you consent to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use the Service.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information from Authentication Providers

Authentication is handled by Clerk, Inc. ("Clerk"), a third-party authentication service. You may sign in using Discord, Google, or your email address. Depending on which method you choose, we receive and store:

  • Discord — User ID, username, and avatar image
  • Google — name, email address, and profile picture
  • Email — email address only

Clerk processes your authentication data in accordance with their own Privacy Policy. We only receive the information listed above from Clerk — we do not receive or store your passwords.

We do NOT collect, request, or store your Discord server list, friend list, messages, Google Drive files, contacts, or any other data beyond what is listed above.

2.2 Information You Provide Through Use

When you use the Service, we store:

  • Tracked items — eBay item URLs and IDs that you choose to track
  • Categories — custom organizational categories you create
  • Notification preferences — your alert settings

2.3 Automatically Collected Information

  • Session data — we use authentication cookies managed by Clerk to keep you signed in. These cookies contain authentication tokens only and do not track your browsing activity.
  • Hosting logs — our hosting provider (Cloudflare) may automatically collect standard server logs including IP addresses, browser type, and request timestamps. These logs are managed by Cloudflare per their own privacy policy.

2.4 Information We Do NOT Collect

  • Passwords
  • Physical addresses
  • Payment or financial information
  • Location data (beyond what is in standard server logs)
  • Device fingerprints or advertising identifiers
  • Browsing history or activity on other websites

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect solely to:

  • Authenticate your identity and maintain your session
  • Provide the core Service functionality (tracking items, displaying data, sending notifications)
  • Associate your tracked items and preferences with your account
  • Enforce our Terms of Service and protect against abuse
  • Improve and maintain the Service

We do NOT sell, rent, trade, or share your personal information with any third parties for marketing, advertising, or any commercial purpose.

We do NOT use your data for targeted advertising. We do NOT display third-party advertisements on the Service.

4. Third-Party Services

The Service interacts with the following third-party services:

We also access publicly available data from eBay, PSA, and Beckett Grading Services to provide item tracking, grading verification, and population data. We do not share your personal information with these services — we only query their public APIs and web pages.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored in a PostgreSQL database hosted by Supabase in the United States. All data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS). Database access is restricted to the application and protected by authentication credentials.

While we implement commercially reasonable security measures, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.

6. Cookies

The Service uses essential cookies managed by Clerk to maintain your authentication state. These cookies are strictly necessary for the Service to function and cannot be disabled without losing the ability to sign in.

We do NOT use tracking cookies, analytics cookies, or advertising cookies. We do NOT use Google Analytics or similar tracking services.

7. Data Retention

We retain your account data (user ID, username, email address, and profile image) and associated tracked items for as long as your account is active. If you wish to have your data deleted, you may contact us via Discord and we will delete your account and all associated data within 30 days.

Grading certification data (PSA and BGS cert lookups) is cached indefinitely as this data is publicly available and immutable.

8. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete such information promptly.

9. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Object to or restrict processing of your data
  • Request a portable copy of your data

To exercise any of these rights, contact us via the TCG Scope Discord community. We will respond to your request within 30 days.

10. International Users

The Service is operated from and data is stored in the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States. By using the Service, you consent to this transfer and processing.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Effective date" at the top of this page and may notify you through the Service. Your continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
